EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE (EPS/DIF) FOAM
Explore the benefits of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS/DIF) Foam, a light, insulating, and eco-friendly game-changer in the construction industry.
What is expanded polystyrene?
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a lightweight, rigid, plastic foam insulation material produced from solid beads of polystrene. The process of expansion utilizes heat, usually steam, to inflate the styrene polymers, merging them together to form a solid block. This material is then cut into shape to be utilized in various construction applications. Its strength, thermal insulation properties, and low moisture absorption make it an excellent choice for insulation systems in construction. It’s easy to handle, cut, and install, which streamlines construction processes and saves time.
In the construction industry, EPS is extensively used in a variety of applications such as insulation for walls, roofs and foundations, and in structural insulated panels (SIPs). It’s also a common material in architectural and decorative designs due to its flexibility and ease of molding. The high R-value (thermal resistance) of EPS allows it to effectively reduce energy consumption, thereby decreasing the carbon footprint of buildings and leading to long-term cost savings. Furthermore, EPS is 100% recyclable, aligning with green building practices and sustainability goals.
